Baby Massage with Cheerful Cherubs

Baby Massage with Cheerful Cherubs

Welcome to the loving art of Baby Massage.
Did you know that Baby massage is an art, which promotes loving communication between parents and their babies? Touch is one of your babies first senses to develop and it is an essential part of a baby’s development.

Proud to be an independent business

We have provided Baby Massage courses across Worcestershire since 2009

About our Baby Massage courses

Our small friendly classes are baby-led and last up to one hour. Jo, the founder of Cheerful Cherubs is also your class teacher; she will guide you through a step-by-step routine, which is a carefully balanced combination of massage techniques. These include gentle stretches, soft gymnastics and the principles of yoga, reflexology and not forgetting the power of touch. Baby massage is a beautiful opportunity for your baby to gain reassurance from you and can also reduce postnatal depression (PND).

A number of our clients also attend activity sessions such as music, baby sign or baby sensory; although we do include developmental exercises along with singing and rhyme, the emphasis is on teaching you to massage your baby.

Our aim is for you to leave your first session of baby massage being able to massage the whole of your baby’s body. In the remaining 3 session of the course, you will cover massage in more depth and add on further techniques, until you have completed our carefully prepared Baby Massage programme. In fact as soon as you leave your first session, a simple 5 minute baby massage routine will soon become an everyday part of your life.

During our courses, parents often gain support from each other through topical conversation, such as useful parenting tips, special offers and good places to eat and drink with baby. We encourage you to share the joys and challenges of parenting with each other, promoting peer support amongst fellow group members.

Please contact us for course availability.

We started baby massage in January 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed every session. The friendly atmosphere and tutorials were first class.

Amy

Really good course, some of the techniques learnt have been invaluable in soothing my baby. It is really flexible to be able to tailor the massage to whatever suits your own little one. Highly recommend it – Jo is a great teacher.

FAQ's

What is the best age to start baby massage?
It is ideal to introduce your baby to massage when he or she is still very young, and not mobile as this is less of a challenge for you! You can massage your baby from birth (prior to a paediatric 6/8 week check we suggest you talk to your GP/HV) and it’s never too late!

Do I need to undress my baby before massage?
No, you can massage your baby through a sleep suit if you or your baby prefer.

What do I need to bring?
A towel and drink for your baby.

What should I wear?
Baby massage classes usually take place on the floor, so please dress appropriately and comfortably.

What if my baby becomes restless during the session?
Not a problem – if your baby becomes tired or hungry I will either wait while you attend to your baby’s needs, or you may watch me demonstrate the techniques on the doll. If you wish you may work on a doll while your baby sleeps!

What if my baby is unwell?
If your baby is unwell and you are unsure about attending please contact us before, we ask that you consider the other families on the course too. It is usually possible for you to catch up if you do miss a session due to illness. refunds are not given.

Can daddy come along too?
Absolutely! We help daddies to feel useful too whilst further developing their loving bond and communication with their baby! We even may be able to squeeze in grandma or another family member, but please confirm beforehand.

Can I have baby massage instruction in my own home?
Yes, Jo will be happy to instruct you on a one to one basis, or you can even hold a group session for friends!

What if I have a holiday booked and will miss a session?
If you miss a class due to a booked holiday, we will  do our best to accommodate your needs as long we know in advance. Please be aware that this is at the discretion of Cheerful Cherubs and may incur an admin fee.
